Japan: Day 3 - Tokyo Tower & Arrival at Kyoto

We are only on day 3 and already the trip's beginning to take its toll on us. For my mother, it's understandable. Me? I have no excuse- I'm in my early/mid twenties with a bedtime of 9pm (okay, maybe that's exaggerating a little).

But there's not stopping us- thankfully the day turned out to be sunny!
Kyoto awaits us and so we trek up the hill leading to the Tokyo Tower.
A lot of Hello Kitty Souvenirs on the 1st floor.

Beautiful views of Tokyo atop the Tower
That's Mt. Fuji hidden behind the clouds in the distance
Rode up to the highest observatory of the Tower for some more spectacular city views.

And we fell in love with the cutest Japanese couple, who let us take their picture.

Back at the mid-foot of the tower...

I was re-united with an old (childhood teen) flame.

Parting is such sweet sorrow- not only did I have to say goodbye to Pikachu, but to Tokyo.
2 days and a half was definitely not enough, but it was better than nothing.

L: Subway Station; R: Aboard the Shinkansen
Here's a little of what it's like:

Tokyo -> Kyoto = 2:30 hours
Not too shabby, eh?

In good company.

Lugging our luggage (ha) to the hotel and checking in, settling in again and trying to find a good place to eat took up some of our time.
And I got distracted by a lot of things. I mean, check these out!

After a delicious dinner (of an assorted sushi plate, nonetheless) we headed back to the hotel because, you guessed it, another long day lay ahead!

    1. I want to go back and visit again!
I didn't (and still don't) know one word in Japanese- well, except arigato- but I got around just fine! Most people speak, and if not they understand, English. But they're SO nice that even if they don't speak English, they'll try their best to understand you and help you. :)
