What a Day This Has Been...

Actually, what a day it was!
Last week, I headed to Ayutthaya for a day and luckily the weather was on my side, allowing me to trek from temple to temple sans rain. I actually got sun-sandal-burned on my feet!

What made the day all the better was a breakfast I concocted for myself.
I was excited because I envisioned it all beforehand and realised I had all the ingredients to make it a reality. That rarely happens!

It's the little things- like strawberries, a baguette & apricot jam, cheese and a simple sunny side up egg- that count.
My first stop in Ayutthaya was Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol

I thought this was a cool 'imprint' on the wall: it looks like the silhouette of a man facing downwards.

Oh hey. That's me...

What would we do without self-timers...

That is, when there isn't an eager young lass willing to help you take a picture. [This was at Wat Shai Wattanaram]

I came across a Filipino girl, also traveling on her own, and she asked me if I could take a picture of her with my camera. I had a better one, apparently.
She was super bubbly and friendly- of course I said yes.
I sent them to her the day after.

It used to be that you could walk among the ruins, but since the last flood it has been deemed unsafe and so there was nothing to do but admire it from afar.

Come and take a quick walk with me at Wat Phra Si Sanphet.
"I don't think we're in Thailand anymore, Toto" said I to myself while walking in the ruins and reconstructed temples. The sights were awesome and like nothing I'd ever seen.*
I couldn't have asked for a lovelier and adventurous day!

Including the famous Buddha head in a tree.

Anybody got a day trip planned for the near future?

*  And let me tell you, the pyramids in Mexico are a pretty rad sight too.
