Friday Dance Fun

I thought I'd shake things up a bit and take a regular funny Friday and turn it into a fun dance party.The promise of a good weekend will do that to you.

Not being prepared for a photo is the worst. I know I've had my share of awkward faces, but this one takes the cake.

She obviously wasn't on ANTM- Tyra prepares you for all these sort of situations.

Doing It Right (Funny Friday)

Impersonations are only funny when a) they're uncanny and b) nothing* like the original.
Mr. Spacey is known for his dramatic roles but he's actually really funny and one hell of an impersonator.
Why don't you be the judge?

My favourite is Pacino. All it took was that one word!
My impersonator party tricks are:- Louis (of Family Guy): limited to only saying, "Oh, Peeeteeer!"- Koothrappali (of Big Bang Theory): again, limited to "Dude, that was totally not cool."**
Do you or do you know anyone who does a decent impersonation of someone?
* Not true- there has to be SOME sort of similarity, a small gesture can make all the difference, and that's it. And that's not necessarily an impersonation as it is a parody.** I'm Mexican and I master the indian accent better than I can a latino one. I don't get it.

Babies & Parrots & Women (?) on Friday's Funny

I've been on an SNL kick, as of late. Thanks to youtube I'm discovering (and re-discovering) some real laugh out loud treasures. Like this video here: two great ladies being awesome and funny.

Also, I wish there were more Spartan cheerleaders skits out there. Can we talk about Cheri Oteri oozing energy and permeating from screen to viewer? Yeah. THAT GOOD.

Choppin' Broccoli on a Funny Friday

This reminds me of where I come from. 

And by that I mean, SNL meant EVERYTHING to me when I was young (from 12 years old onwards). It gave me us some of the best comedians and humour that would transcend into what we have today (well, doesn't everything, really?).
Here's to Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Gilda Radner, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrel, Cheri Oteri, even Janeane Garofalo, Jon Lovitz, Mike Myers and all other SNL alumni (and not- i.e. George Carlin) who were my personal heroes. My mentors.
Most importantly,  here's to funny.
Because without laughter, I don't know where or who I'd be!

Lost In Translation

Travelling is a lot of fun, but it can also be a little frustrating if you don't speak the language.

Frustrating and funny, in retrospect. 

Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation captured that wonderfully. Along with human relationships, nostalgia, etc...

Madeline Kahn: Comedienne Extraordinaire on Funny Friday

If you don't know who Madeline Kahn is, well, good thing you stopped on by.
Madeline Kahn was one talented and beautiful cookie- a trained opera singer, too.

This movie always seems to air during the holiday seasons (rightfully so). It's actually pretty funny, IMO- and it's got a spectacular cast.

As for today's Funny Friday- I actually really dislike seeing myself on video (and photos too, sometimes) but also really enjoyed playing the uke and singing along.*
I originally intended on singing the song as well as I could, but I got a little confused/lost and just went with it anyway.

Yes, I'm aware I'm a little crazy.


I think we should all have bonfire nights more often and sing, jump and laugh in the moonlight.

When Screwing Up is Funny (On Funny Friday)

What's funnier than a funny movie, you ask? Why, the bloopers of course!

I was really excited to watch Bridesmaids when it came out in cinemas for various reasons. Number one being it included SNL alumni (Maya Rudolph was one of my favourites- and Kristen Wiig, well. She's Kristen Wiig). * Numero two was a little more personal as my friend was getting married around the same time it came out- and I was bridesmaid! (Woot, woot!). Number three, well, I'm always up for a comedy- and this one looked darn funny.

And so it was!

It is amazing to me how John Hamm can pull off the "dumb face" so well- goodness, he's so funny and so goodlooking, dammit.Someone needs to get it for me on DVD so I can rewatch it.

Funny Friday

Let me begin by saying that I don't actually follow TV shows anymore.
In fact, the last one I recall following "religiously"* was Lost. And I still haven't seen the last season. I know, I know. Cut me some slack, college got in the way!

So, when my sister suggested I watch The Big Bang Theory I wasn't very keen on it. 

To my surprise, I really really liked it!

Even though the show (and characters) gets a little repetitive, I still find myself laughing out loud. I want to say Sheldon and Penny are my favourites, but it's so hard to pick!

Wet Hot American Summer is a gem of a comedy- the cast alone should be reason enough to watch.

Iiiiiit's.... Funny Friday!

Is it just me, or did this week just kind of whizz by? We're already half way through March!
Goodness, I'm starting to feel old...
On with the show.

There's so much to be said about Woody Allen, and I'm personally a fan, but I will save that for a more 'in-depth' post later.

In the meantime, I leave you with one of my favourite scenes from Play it again, Sam.
I find it divinely endearing as it is funny. I'm sure that first date won't ever feel awkward after this!

Remember the Golden days of Saturday Night Live? And remember the genius that was Jack Handey?
When I was in high-school I used to write sketches "for" Saturday Night Live. I even attempted a few Deep Thoughts and excerpts from My Big Thick Novel.
Yeah, they were never as funny...

Funny Friday: A little day brighten up-er

Even though I don't watch Ellen's show that much (not living in the US has something to do with that), I think she's a great host to one of the better talk shows.I mean, she pulls pranks. What's not to like?
This Dennis Quaid one is my favourite.
If you didn't laugh out loud a couple of times then, lighten up, man. Here are two more involving Mr.Quaid: one & two. It helps that he's SO GOOD at what he's doing. He would've fooled me.
